My Story
I was born and raised in Western Oklahoma. After high school, I graduated from Ozark Christian College and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.
For more than three decades, I called the Joplin, Missouri area home. During that time, I spent 25 years as a middle school educator, teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies to students in grades 6-8. In addition to teaching, I mentored new teachers during my later years in education.
After retiring from education in 2020, I returned home to Oklahoma to be closer to my mother and extended family. I spent time tutoring students and working in a local flower shop before beginning my current role in the behavioral health field.
I am also a proud mother to a daughter who is married and lives in Oklahoma City. Being a parent has been one of the greatest blessings and most meaningful learning experiences of my life. Like many parents, I have experienced the joys, challenges, worries, and hopes that come with loving and supporting a child through different stages of life. Those experiences have deepened my understanding of encouragement, grace, resilience, and the importance of a strong support system.
